This wonderfully casual, backyard barbecue wedding highlighted so beautifully all of the things that I love about love. The day of shooting began as the bride prepared off-site with her sister and niece and continued on to the couple's amazingly New-England lake property a few towns away. Foregoing most of the traditional wedding formalities like cake-cutting and first dances, the couple opted for details that were more reflective of their laid back, fun personalities offering their favorite beers on tap, catered barbecue, darts, lawn games, rafts, and even a water slide. The ceremony was officiated by a close relative of the groom, while the groom's sons both served unique roles, as well. The elder was responsible for presenting the rings (including a hilarious "fake" drop into the water) and the younger canoeing the bride into the ceremony to the amazement of unsuspecting guests. Desserts were made potluck-style with friends of the bride and groom bringing trays of cookies to celebrate. Chairs were cleared from the ceremony floor by the groom and friends to make way for Baggo and washer games just moments after the ceremony. Family members of all legal ages toasted with a memorial shot, cheering the memory of their loved ones. In its entirety, the day was a true celebration of the union of these two best friends. May we all be so lucky to have a day so beautiful. Best wishes for many more years of fun, love, and good pours to Jess and Joel. You are awesome!
